Before the first painting, the building. Sixteen photographs of the rooms that art is shown in and the architecture of the last hundred years that made them: Safdie’s lotus in Singapore, Foster’s glass roof over the British Museum, Zaha Hadid’s cantilever in Vienna, and two installation views from the Met, because an exhibition is a made thing too.
