Terms of Use

1.Who we are

EPRIS Museum (“the museum”, “we”, “us”) is a digital museum published at museum.eprisjournal.com as a division of EPRIS Journal. It is operated by Viacheslav Munister, director of EPRIS Journal and EPRIS Museum, [registered address, Milan, Italy]. You can reach us at munister@outlook.com.

These terms apply to anyone who visits the museum. Artists who submit work to the open call also agree to the Artist Licence Agreement and the Fee & Payment Policy.

2.A free museum

Entry is free, at any hour, from anywhere. You do not need an account, and we do not set cookies, run analytics or show advertising. Nothing on the visitor side of the museum is for sale.

3.The works and how you may reuse them

Every plate in the museum shows the artist, the date, the source institution or photographer and the licence under which the image is shown. That licence, not these terms, decides what you may do with the image:

• Public domain and CC0. Works from the open-access collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art and similar sources are in the public domain or dedicated to it. You may copy, adapt and use them for any purpose, including commercially, without asking. We do not claim any right in these reproductions.
• Creative Commons (CC BY, CC BY-SA). Contemporary photographs and works are shown under the licence their authors chose. You may reuse them on that licence’s terms: credit the author as printed, link to the licence, say whether you changed the work and, for BY-SA, share your adaptation under the same licence.
• Works licensed to us by artists through the open call. Unless a Creative Commons licence is printed beside them, these are shown with the artist’s permission only. Copying them requires the artist’s own permission, not ours.

A licence covers the copyright in the image. It does not clear other rights that may apply in some countries, such as the rights of people shown in a photograph, trademarks, or national rules on reproducing cultural heritage. If you plan a commercial use, check these first.

4.Our own content

The selection and arrangement of the halls, the hall descriptions, the director’s letter, the drawings, the site’s design and code are © 2026 EPRIS Journal, all rights reserved. You are welcome to quote short passages with a credit to “EPRIS Museum” and a link to the page. Please do not present the museum’s texts or design as your own, or use the EPRIS name or wordmark in a way that suggests we endorse you.

5.Using the site fairly

• Do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its admin area.
• Automated downloading is fine at a gentle pace; do not crawl at a rate that slows the museum down for others.
• Do not use the open call form to send spam, malware or anything unlawful.

6.Reporting a rights problem

We take attribution seriously. If you believe a work is shown without the right to show it, is credited to the wrong person, carries the wrong licence, or shows you in a way you object to, write to munister@outlook.com with:

1. the address of the page (for example museum.eprisjournal.com/works/…);
2. who you are and your connection to the work;
3. what is wrong and what you would like us to do;
4. how we can reach you.

We acknowledge every report within five working days. Where a claim is plausible we take the work down while we look into it, and tell you the outcome. If the work turns out to be correctly licensed we may put it back, and we will tell you why.

7.Links to other sites

Plates link to the institutions and archives the images come from, and to licence texts. Those sites are run by others; we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

8.Availability and liability

We work to keep the museum online and its information correct, but we offer it as it is, free of charge, and cannot promise that it will always be available or free of error. Dates, dimensions and credits come from the source institutions and may contain their mistakes; tell us and we will correct them.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited under Italian law, and nothing affects your rights as a consumer.

9.Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Italian law. Disputes go to the courts of Milan, except that if you are a consumer you may always bring or face proceedings in the courts of the place where you live.

10.Changes

If we change these terms we update the date above and, for any change that matters, say so on the home page for at least thirty days. Earlier versions are available on request.
